Hi! I recently bought a mattress an adjustable base through a Mattress Underground Trusted Member. Originally I thought the base was going to be an S-Cape 2.0, but apparently they've very recently decided to pair with Malouf instead of L&P over concerns about recent degradation of steel quality used in the L&P beds. They said that Malouf's specs maintained the quality that they had come to expect, and that they didn't take their decision lightly.

My concern is that L&P is an established name. I can't find as much information about Malouf. If a part breaks, how easy will it be to get a replacement? The Malouf E455 lacks some of the features I'd wanted, most importantly the WallHugger technology.

But if I were to cancel the order for the Malouf, I don't even know of another local retailer where I could get the S-Cape. I'm wary of buying from Amazon because of the warranty issues (though I suppose an older model could void the warranty but might have still been made out of good steel), but I have to imagine that a more trusted retailer halfway across the country would incur high delivery costs (if they'd deliver at all).

I called another retailed who has been a big proponent of Leggett & Platt in the past and he said that while he trusts them to know their steel, he's actually moving away from them too because apparently their new ownership is pushing for cheaper, crappier products and the quality is going down.

But he also said that Malouf is also made with cheap materials in China. I think that used to be the case but they now manufacture in Canada?

I'm just not sure what I should do moving forward.
