Heritage Copper Latex Mattress 05 Aug 2020 15:05 #1

I’m in the process of searching for a mattress. I have been looking at mattresses in my area and liked this one. It is from the Heritage Copper Latex brand from Southerland.

I just wanted to know if I was missing anything obvious or any red flags. Just a disclaimer, this is a general question and not meant for this specific expert company.

Quilt Layer – CuTec copper ion quilted cover
3” Ultra-premium copper-infused latex
2” Ultra-premium copper-infused HD latex
6” Heritage latex support core

I attached the info-sheet that the salesperson sent me.

Apparently, they market it with the benefits of "Copper Ion", which I don't really care about. I'm not sure what type of latex it is as it is an older model, but all the newer models are Talalay latex, and all natural, so that would be my best guess.I tried to call customer support for the Southerland brand, but since it was an older model, they weren't sure about the details.

For reference, I am 5'6" and weigh about 120.

It is an older floor model, I think they are trying to get rid of it, but I thought it felt fine. Based on my understanding, latex should hold its durability well. I talked to the salesmen was able to get the mattress price down to $1,200, which seems reasonable? I live in Wilmington, NC, I checked other nearby stores and was not finding too many other options I liked, they mainly stocked either big brands or Tempur Pedic. The other options I was primarily considering was a Mlily Fusion Luxe or a 2016 Temper Pedic Prima. I was thinking of looking online, but would definitively prefer to be able to easily try out the mattress. I actually am not thrilled about spending this much for a mattress as I may move within the next 2 years and feel that because of my BMI, could get away with a cheaper option, but would prefer to invest in quality just in case I don't move or can take it with me.

I just wanted to know if I was missing anything obvious or any red flags or anything that I should check further. I didn't see much on this forum related to similar models.

One thing to keep in mind is that generally floor model mattresses are sold as-is with no warranty, and no returns or exchanges. So you should verify the specific terms of the sale to be sure that you understand them, and that you may not have any options if the mattress ends up not living up to your expectations. You are correct that latex is considered a durable material, but the fact that the manufacturer is unable to provide further details about their own product even though it may be older would seem to be a red flag about its quality. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the information Bill, I didn't know about the no warranty, returns, and exchange policy for floor model mattresses. I will definitively ask about that and try to get more information from the manufacturer.
