Can't decide 10 Dec 2018 05:56 #1

I am looking at buying a king split mattress from Sleeping Organic. I have been on TMU site for two days and I'm still not confident enough to pull the trigger. I am 5'8 and 200 lbs and a side sleeper. My wife is 5'8 and 150 lbs and is all over the place. I am looking at an all Talaly bed and from the bottom Firm Firm Medium Soft and Firm Medium Medium Soft. I am not sure if this is correct. I am also going to start looking for an adjustable base ASAP. It is Sunday and I left Sleeping Organic a message to call me. Also I have seen a lot of blended Talaly Latex and read Sleeping Organic was 100% Talaly Latex and was wondering if that is a true statement. They are on the nice list (sorry a Christmas thing) so I am just trying to be cautious. From everything I have read I would like a 100% Talaly Latex bed with just a nice cover over it. If there are any other sites I should visit could you please let me know. I went to CM and looked at Prana beds and almost had a heart attack over the price. The beds were very good but I think I would be getting a better bed and at a quarter of the price from Sleeping Organic. Any suggestions would be great.

Hi FlSteve,

Welcome to the Forum!

Let me first reassure you that you have found a wealth of knowledge with the Mattress Underground website as this is an amazing resource to help you research great companies with quality materials.

Sleeping Organic is a member here, and it is best to get in contact with someone at the company. They should provide answers to all your questions and they would know the most about their product and what works best for people.

For your mattress purchase, are you looking for a Split King to use on an adjustable base? Do you and your wife prefer very different firmnesses? If the answers to both of these questions is no, I would recommend not to get a Split King mattress.

In regards to the latex quality, you can ask for their certifications to verify if their Talalay is 100% Natural or if it is a blend. I think reading information about latex here will help with some of your questions. For choosing your layers, it would be most helpful for you to know the ILD’s or densities of their latex layers to help you choose the best combination for you and your wife. You can get a bit of a background and understanding on those measurements here . Their "Soft" layer could be different than another companies "Soft" layer, so comparing these detailed stats is recommended for best results. From the personal information you gave, it sounds like you are both wanting a very plush mattress based on the layers you selected for each sleeper. Our company typically recommends softer layers on top with enough support underneath. No matter how soft someone may like their mattress to be, it also needs to provide support for the sleeper to align their spine and not cause any pain. It is best to give this information directly to the company and receive their recommendation and input on the best layer selection for you.

Next, you may want to consider going with Talalay and Dunlop in your mattress. Both should be under the same warranty, and we find at our company that a bit denser material on bottom is best for overall stability and support. Talalay latex tends to be more plush and having this on top is typically preferred by most of our customers. That way, you get the best of both worlds: plush feel on top, and support underneath.

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.
