We are trying to narrow down our choices for a mattress and before deciding to buy online. So far we are considering a 100% natural latex bed or a customizable/component bed from Reverie Dream Supreme. I would like to see if there are any great quality stores we should also be considering in the Upstate NY area we could travel to first. We are in the 14830 zip code. Any help and/or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Hi Wrewster,

There isn't a local list for Corning, NY but the better options or possibilities I'm aware of (subject to the "value" guidelines here ) in the larger Syracuse, Ithaca, Binghamton, Bridgewater areas are listed in post #2 here and for the area within about 50 miles of Towanda, PA are listed in post #7 here . The best place to test a variety of different types of latex mattresses that is in reasonable driving distance would probably be homegreenhome in Ithaca.

I took a quick look in the area (in about a 50 mile radius) and some of the local "possibilities" (subject to the "value" guidelines here ) and the brands they carry that I would focus on (you will need to call and see if they carry any latex mattresses and also confirm that they will provide you with the information you need about the materials inside the mattresses they carry) include ...

www.hlstephens.com/ Horseheads, Montour Falls, NY. Sayre, PA. Restonic latex hybrid and gel.

www.metromattress.com/find-a-location Horseheads, Ithaca, NY. Spring Air, Therapedic. CAUTION: Be careful here because they tend to specialize more in major brands which they may tend to overpromote and make sure you don't buy a mattress on the same day as you test them or that you know the specifics of every layer in any mattress you consider here.

www.beiters.com/index.html Mansfield, PA. Englander, Spring Air, Therapedic.

sturzenfurniture.com/index.php Sayre, Towanda, PA. Spring Air, Therapedic

www.homegreenhome.com/index.shtml Ithaca, NY. WJ Southard, Savvy Rest, and Naturepedic. These are high quality mattresses (including latex) but are in a more premium budget range.
