Hello,

I'm a 62-year-old woman with a ton of arthritis, and I am posting because I am pleased about how adjustable our Flobed mattress is and how easily I can adjust it. I've been in and out of that mattress--without needing help from my husband--several times since we bought it in the summer of 2012, and I'm amazed that a woman my age and with 2 artificial joints (hip, ankle) can open up the mattress and adjust it within, oh, 15-20 minutes (I take a little extra time to make sure that the layers I'm switching are perfectly aligned).

As I've developed sciatica recently, I switched my husband's medium layer for my extra-firm layer to create more "give" at my hips. Now, Flobeds is letting me buy a v-zone layer (which I don't have, because we bought the model without it) for $150, which seems really reasonable and I appreciate their flexibility. I could buy a soft layer for $75 (the terms of the original sale allow you to do this throughout the life of the mattress, I believe--or at least for many years)--but I want to try the v-zone. I'm thinking that with my body type (tall and thin, wide shoulders, considerable difference between my waist and hip measurements), the combination of "give" and support that the v-zone offers will help with my sciatica, by allowing my hips to sink in without compromising my alignment.

My husband doesn't need it; he's happy with his side the way it is (including my extra-firm layer--he prefers a firm mattress, so that worked out well).

So, two and a half years after we bought the mattress, I want to say that both the adjustability of the mattress as my "sleeping needs" evolved--especially including the fact that my husband and I can suit our own preferences in one bed--and the ease of doing the adjusting, have turned out to be great advantages. I'm never afraid that down the line, I'll have needs that can't be accommodated.

Just a kudo to Flobeds.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback about your long term experience with FloBeds. It's very uncommon that someone takes the time to share their feedback after several years and I appreciate it.

It's also great to see the type of "above and beyond" service and guidance they are providing you years after a purchase as well and your experience is also a good example of the benefits of a component mattress that allows you to make custom changes if your own need and preferences change over the course of time!

Thanks again.
