New to the forum, have been searching around for a few months and wondering if its even possible to find a mattress that is at least 13' Gel (cool touch) memory foam and made of respectable materials (5lb density) or more, as im 6'3 235 lbs, all for less that $900. Ive looked at 100s of reviews online and many have pointed to mattress underground as the forefront in knowledge/expertise in the matter. Can anyone recommend a specific mattress or manufacturer??

Preferable comfort similarity iComfort Savant

Thanks

Hi childsa0919,

I don't recommend specific mattresses for people because there are just too many variables involved for anyone to make specific choices for other people out of the thousands of possibilities that may be available but post #1 here has all the information, steps, and guidelines you will need to know how find a mattress (locally or online) that is as close to your criteria as possible.

You can read more about the different ways to "match" another mattress in post #2 here and the only meaningful way to match a mattress like the iComfort where you don't know the specifics of the materials or combination of materials is to use your own personal testing as a guideline for how closely two mattresses may "match". This can be very subjective and depend on the many variations of body type, sleeping position, personal preferences, and sensitivities and one person may feel that two mattresses are very close while another may feel that the same two mattresses are very different. As you can see in the link ... I would tend to "rate" each mattress you test against a common set of personal criteria rather than against another mattress which may not be possible except in the terms of it's "subjective feel" which is not particularly accurate and may also not provide a good indication of how it will feel and perform for you in the long term.
