Hi Phoenix, my tried to post a few times but none appeared on the threads where I posted before. I am trying here hoping to get your advice:

HI Phoenix,

After more testing, we are going to get the Eco Rest floor model from local store and add a 3" talalay med soft topper. At the store we tried the PLB and it feels good but I think its a bit too soft to me. When tested Savvy Rest layers I actually liked their med talalay top layers a bit more than their soft talalay layer. What do you think of these choices:

3" Soft Natural Dunlop Latex Mattress Duvet Topper Clearance

($279, made of soft dunlop? no cover)

www.mattresses.net/rejuvenite-queen-talalay-latex-mattress-topper.html
($377 with cover, Queen 3" Rejuvenite Talalay Latex Mattress Topper)

($299 with cover, 19ild Talalay latex blended but no specifics%)

Thank you.

Hi hubbs,

Hi Phoenix, my tried to post a few times but none appeared on the threads where I posted before. I am trying here hoping to get your advice:

I'm not sure what you mean here. You have 13 posts on the forum so it seems to be working. Did the session time out (asking you to log in again?).

3" Soft Natural Dunlop Latex Mattress Duvet Topper Clearance

In terms of quality and value this would be a great choice for anyone who likes soft Dunlop and is at clearout prices. If you have any questions about how it 'feels" then Ken would be the best person to talk to (I've never tried it). It would need a cover though (all latex needs a cover or it will degrade much faster with exposure to ultraviolet and ozone).

This is blended Talalay and comes in either 19 ILD or 28 ILD Talalay. The 28 is rated "medium" by Latex International but is probably a little softer than the medium Savvy Rest. The 19 is rated "Plush" and would be similar to the top layer of most of the PLB mattresses (except for the Nutrition which has 28 ILD on top). It has a nice stretch cover.

This is also blended Talalay and besides the 19 ILD they list I believe they may also have other ILD's available. It has a bamboo cover.

Thanks so much Phoenix. Since the last two choices both made of blended Talalay, can I assume that they use same quality latex but one has a better cover?

Hi hubbs,

I'm not so sure that any assumption is "safe" in the world of mattresses :)

I know that the Talatech topper has a very nice zip cover and you can see it on the video . The bamboo is a non zip and is nice as well but I don't know the details. Both are blended Talalay from Latex International but I tend to refer the more specific questions about things like their covers to the manufacturers themselves because they know the details and specifics of their products much better than I do.

Thanks again, Phoenix. Now that we bought the organic all natural Eco Rest mattress, I wonder if best to add a topper that is all natural too. But when we test at store, we did like talalay than dunlop top layers.

I see Natural Comfort selling a 100% natural talalay topper on amazon for $349, and it is a member here so that add a level of assurance to buy from. But one reviewer said they got a knock off product instead, no brand name, and glue in the middle. Have you heard anything about the reputation of this seller?

Also, do we get 5% discount on toppers too from member sellers?

Hi hubbs,

The choice between natural and a blend and the type of latex is really a matter of personal preference. I think most people would probably choose either the blended Talalay or the 100% natural Dunlop but each person may have things that are more or less important to them. I would stick with what you know you like unless there is a particularly compelling reason to do otherwise.

I would also tend to sleep on your mattress for a week or two so you adjust a bit and which may help you identify the thickness and ILD of topper you may do best with.

I read the same review but it sure doesn't sound like the person I know who has great integrity.

The 5% discount only applies to listed sites (and this is an unofficial site of one of the members which I happened to discover when I called one day and was talking to someone I knew :)) and it is only on mattresses although some members may choose to add it to other products as well.

It would be hard to get a "knockoff" talalay layer because there are only two main talalay producers selling talalay in North America and both are good quality. Anything larger than twin will usually also have a glue seam (although there are a few queen molds but these are rarely seen). All together I took the review with a grain of salt. The latex layer itself doesn't have a "brand name" that someone could see (unless there is a sticker on it) and any manufacturer can cover it with anything.

supparo and Phoenix - I just got my Ultimate full size mattress earlier today and I am busy setting it up (box is my size). It went out last Wed and arrived today, Monday. I had also sometime ago ordered an 8" memory foam mattress which I sold unopened to someone living near me so I may have some comments about that too. I had decided against keeping mattress #1 for several reasons so turned around and purchased the Ultimate Dreams Latex Mattress (#2) while it was still in transit.

so far box is: 56x15 squared, approx and while I have what roughly was called a bed mostly stripped down- the dog just ate some chunk of memory foam that was still on the frame. I had better "get cracking" :)

Phonix and all: OMG well I had some specifics to do before I could set the mattress up on the metal frame- my different but serviceable headboard of tri-fold foam mats had to be put back in place - I have the mattress up on the frame however I had difficulty with the plastic and I think I heard air whooshing in- I don't see a piece of paper and of course I wouldn't pause to look online once I am determined, at 4ft 10" to do something I do not dare stop. But it appears the mattress unrolls upside down so turning this around is going to be quite a feat :)

There were no incidents getting it out of the box which weighs 65- the mattress is 60lbs., according to data on Amazon. There is no odor that I can currently detect. > WHEW I turned the mattress over and hardly any odors but I do have allergy this time of year. The enclosed latex pillow cover had more odor to detect than the mattress; the mattress and pillow both were nearly inflated before I could get the whole project turned over but it is in place and looks great.

It feels WONDERFUL- so far no new bedding - all cotton mattress cover is on it now so tonight I will sleep with my old pillow for reference; not the latex pillow yet as I want it to set 24 hours away from my lungs before I try it out. My chaweenie has given the mattress his approval after romping on it then found a myPillow and took a nap. I already like the feel of the latex pillow- it is heavier than my other pillows including myPillow.. I took the very soft plush outer covering of the latex pillow off before I put my case on- I feel the outer covering gives an unfair tryout advantage over other pillows. The inner cover appears to be all polyester which surprises me and I'm curious as to why.

I was talking to the person who bought my memory foam mattress unopened- he insisted on putting the 8" mattress on top of his old mattress and box spring which made it about 31" high; somehow he went to do something and fell off the bed so finally he took his old mattress off. He put his old mattress in another room. He states that his shoulder no longer hurts but maybe it is because he fell out of the bed. He says the memory foam is already getting softer too. His only problem is trying to get up and out of the thing.

I laid on my new mattress with nothing on it. Already I am in love. After I put a cotton pad on it I laid on it again...nicer still. It currently measures about 9.5 inches and rounded at the edge which I happen to like just fine, being short. It isnt saggy though. I know I am going to sleep better tonight than I have in a long...long...time.
